The IRS will never call first

Joseph Rusche

This is just another reminder that the Internal Revenue Service will not make first contact by phone.  If the first you hear from the IRS is a phone call, especially if they demand payment or want personal information, IT IS A HOAX!!!

There are several variations of this phishing exhibition going around and all of them are false.  Similarly the IRS will not make first contact by email.  They are looking for information to allow them to file a return of other types of identity theft.

We have seen an uptick in the number of phone calls and emails our clients are receiving and we all need to be careful and not provide information to the wrong people.

If you have any questions please call your accountant or the IRS directly prior to returning the call.
